What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is called the science of life. It is a very old natural medicine that aims to maintain good health. Understanding Ayurveda helps to live in harmony with nature and prevent illnesses. This holistic health system understands that the consciousness, mind and body are in interaction with nature, people and the environment.
We all have our own constitution that is a combination of space, air, fire, water and earth. These elements are divided into doshas; three fundamental energies. Vata is a combination of air and ether. Pitta is fire and water and Kapha is a combination of water and earth. Our individual constitution (Prakruti) doesn´t change throughout the lifetime. Prakruti is our own combination of emotional, mental, and physical patterns.
By understanding our individual constitution we can stay healthy. This means constantly adjusting our lives to the rhythm of nature and understanding what kind of choices are good for our individual constitution. The daily choices are really important and to find a routine that is individually good for us. When you learn more about Ayurveda, you learn what daily routines are good especially for you. What time to wake up or go to bed? What to eat and what time? What kind of exercise is good for you? What kind of oil to use for a massage? The daily routine is a key to all well-being.
